About Us
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was established in the year 2014 with B.Tech program in CSE under the affiliation of Tripura University (A Central University). Ever since, the department is expanded to offer two B.Tech programs, and two Diploma programs in Computer Science & Engineering and its emerging areas.
In the later years, with the approval of AICTE, MHRD, Govt. of India, and the affiliating university, the department started offering B.Tech and Diploma programs in the following emerging areas of Computer Science and Engineering.
1. Year 2021: Diploma in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML)
2. Year 2022: Diploma in Computer Science & Technology (CST)
3. Year 2022: B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science) (CSE(AIDS))
The B.Tech and Diploma courses of CSE at TCEA provide students with a breadth of knowledge and range of technical skills in theoretical and applied aspects of the field. The programs cover not only the traditional areas, but also all of the major evolving areas of Computer Science. Students are equipped with solid foundations in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Data Science, and Internet of Things gaining hands-on experience with computer programming.
The department has 7 numbers of laboratories where academic laboratories like Programming for Problem Solving Laboratory (C / Python), Object Oriented Programming Laboratory, Java Laboratory, Operating System Laboratory (Linux), Data Structures Laboratory, Design and Analysis of Algorithms Laboratory, Database Management Systems Laboratory, Computer Hardware and Network Laboratory, Web Technology Laboratory, Digital Image Processing Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Machine Learning Laboratory, Internet of Things and Embedded Computing Laboratory, Data Analytics and Visualization Laboratory, Statistical Analysis and Computing for Large Datasets Laboratory etc. are conducted. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide good practical learning environment for the students and researchers.
The students are nurtured with a variety of active learning activities including and not restricted to class room teaching, presentations, video lectures, tutorial sessions, MOOC courses, vocational training, industrial visits & internships, and online courses by faculty in the institute and across the globe.
Skills and Competencies:
A graduate of CSE department should ideally possess four or more of the following abilities:
1. Understand the tasks involved in designing and developing technical solutions using modern IT methods.
2. Apply practical engineering techniques effectively.
3. Write programs using high-level programming languages.
4. Utilize software development methodologies and tools efficiently.
5. Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems.
6. Develop websites and applications based on cloud computing.
7. Build corporate IT infrastructures and design decision-support systems.
8. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, along with the capability to work independently and manage heavy workloads.
9. Think in a logical, systematic, and creative manner.
Various TCEA bodies like Training & Placement Cell (T&P), Institute Innovation Council (IIC), Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) etc. conduct various activities throughout the semester on career development, interpersonal and intrapersonal skill development of the students, seminars, quizzes, industrial visits, paper / poster presentations, group discussions, career guidance, coding games etc.
Student Chapters of various professional bodies like Computer Society of India (CSI), Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) provide unique opportunities for networking, mentoring and bonding over common interests.
With an objective of helping students to pursue their hobbies and interests and to bring people together the student clubs are created at the Institute. Students of CSE initiated Coding Club with an aim of nurturing coding challenges, open source contributions, etc. Google Developer Students’ Club (GDSC) focuses on skill-up activities like hackathons with the aim to foster rapid innovation, teamwork by adapting themes like AI, health, sustainability etc.
Students are encouraged to open source contributions, participations in coding challenges, hackathons, internships and the in-house project ideas are based on research and social problems.
Other than the academics, the department of CSE also engages in various social activities organized by TCEA like extending helping hand towards the old-age homes, orphanages, flood relief camps etc. The department also conducts vocational training for the school students from time to time with an aim to spread basic technical knowledge and to help the students understand at an early age the importance, benefits, and prospects of technical education for carrier development.
