In order to foster an innovative and entrepreneurial culture within Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), the Ministry of Education (MoE) and AICTE collaborated to develop the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) initiative in 2018 through its Innovation Cell (MIC). In order to promote and stabilize the innovation ecosystem in HEIs, the IIC’s main objective is to involve a diverse group of faculty, students, and staff in entrepreneurship and innovation-related activities, including ideation, problem-solving, Proof of Concept development, Design Thinking, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and project management at the Pre-incubation and Incubation stages.

Enhance Technology Students’ Cognitive Capabilit
President:
- The Institution’s Innovation Council will be led by him or her.
- He/She will be in charge of the IIC portal login and the data and reports that are uploaded there and will have the IIC portal login ID.
- He/She will schedule meetings, call them, and keep an eye on the output.
- He/She will serve as the primary liaison with the MHRD’s Innovation Cell.
- He/She will be in charge of ensuring that IIC operates decently and will reply to any communications from the IIC National Coordination team (MHRD’s Innovation Cell).
- He/She will oversee all of the institute’s IIC activities and work in tandem with the MHRD innovation unit.
- He/She will lead Institution-driven events (own initiatives) and make sure the institution participates in IIC calendar activities.
- With the Convenor’s assistance, he or she will make sure that IIC operations are carried out efficiently.
- He/She might update the information on the site and alter the council members in accordance with decisions made during council sessions.
Vice – President:
- He/She shall contribute to expand and enhance the human resource capabilities and internal mentor pool to support campus innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.
- He/She shall be responsible for identifying, supporting, and mentoring student innovators and prospective/early-stage entrepreneurs on a regular basis at the Institute.
- He/She shall be responsible for building a critical mass of dedicated faculty and students with the capacity for creativity, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset and skill set.
- He/She shall be responsible for innovation commercialization through startups, technology licensing, technology transfer, etc.
- He/She should offer to provide facilities and infrastructure support in order to foster innovation and create an atmosphere that facilitates easy access to resources both inside and outside the institute.
- He/She should help to improve cooperation with ecosystems at various levels, partnerships inside and across institutions, and the co-creation of innovative program interventions.
Convenor:
- The convenor will collaborate closely with the President of the IIC and offer assistance as needed to ensure that events run well.
- He/She will guarantee attendance and, with input from the president and all other important council members, develop the agenda at least ten days before the meeting.
- He/She shall keep records of the proceedings, such as meeting minutes, meeting pictures, and meeting videos, which should be posted to the Institution’s YouTube channel and shared with the appropriate authorities together with any further supporting evidence.
- He/She will work with all departments to make sure that the dates of the internal examination don’t conflict with the IIC’s operations.
- In order to properly organize IIC activities and produce outcomes, he or she will regularly gather input from all council members, particularly external members.
Social Media Coordinator:
- He/She will set up and maintain an IIC page or account on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other pertinent social media sites.
- He/She will be in charge of posting any pertinent information regarding the resolution and action plan of the council meeting, IIC activities, and following or tagging the MIC/IIC page and postings on these platforms.
- In order to obtain first-hand knowledge, he or she will also make sure that every student follows the MIC/IIC page or account on social media.
Member:
- To make sure the brochure for all of the academic events of their respective departments, such as webinars, seminars, and workshops pertaining to Industry Interaction, Startup, Entrepreneurship, Research and Innovation, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), includes the logo of the Institution’s Innovation Council and the words “in association with Institution’s Innovation Council, Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India.”
- To create Innovation Clubs to provide students in their departments with the tools and resources they need to engage in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E) activities.
- To foster an innovative and entrepreneurial mentality through a range of initiatives, including advocacy meetings, workshops, awareness campaigns, market outreach events, campus hackathons, and networking gatherings for stakeholders, enablers, and intra- and inter Institutional parties.
- To encourage academics and students to conduct entrepreneurship-related research.
- To offer short-term certificate programs in entrepreneurship and innovation.
- To encourage departments to provide major or minor specializations or credit courses pertaining to IPR and Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E).
- To plan skill development programs for employment generation that encompass at least 30 contact hours.
- To plan programs that will help external participants (locals, community members, alumni, etc.) develop their entrepreneurial skills and create jobs.
- To work together with the IPR Cell to generate revenue from trade secrets, copyrights, patents, and other sources.
- To obtain funding to support and encourage ideas from government, non-governmental, and corporate social responsibility organizations.
* Note: The above responsibilities are also applicable to the President, Vice-President, Convener and Social Media Coordinator apart from their main responsibilities.
